Year 2000 – 2009

Amrapali, Matrishakti, Dharitri, Magdalen-she walked with Jesus, Brotherhood Beyond Boundaries for South Point, Chandalika, Shyama, Shaapmochan. A torrent of highly creative new productions emerged in this decade.

The Cultural Exchange Program with Japan started in 2002 and continued till 2007, with the children of Inspiration foundation and Calcutta social Project travelling to Japan every year, for two weeks and interacting with the school children there. The project was sponsored by a Buddhist priest, Homan Kita, aiming to promote understanding and harmony between the children of the two cultures.

In 2005, Smt. Roy celebrated the 50 years of her dancing.

In a cultural evening arranged in Diocesan School to honour the occasion, she was felicitated and celebrated by various dignitaries. Some of the distinguished performers for the special occasion were, noted singers Shrikanta Acharya, Promita Mallik, Haimanti Shukla, Shayne Hyrapiet . With Pt. Tanmoy Bose of Tal Tantra fame for instrumentals ; recitations by Rita Bhimani and Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee. The students of Chandanaloke and Inspiration Foundation performed in a composition called ‘Moods of Munnimashi’(Munni, her pet name,and as she is fondly addressed), written by the late Piya Ghosh.

Soon, thereafter, a branch of Chandanaloke Academy opened in Cincinnati, USA.

In 2007, her life took yet another strange turn of fate when she walked into the Presidency Correctional Home as a guest, and as they say, history was created. An era defining initiative, to realign the lives of the inmates in the Correctional Homes begun on the International Women’s Day in 2007, which she prefers to refer as The Love Therapy.

The first dance production with the inmates was Brotherhood Beyond Boundaries, staged in Presidency on the 8th of October 2007.

The critically acclaimed Tagorean musical Balmiki Pratibha was staged by the inmates of the Correctional Homes, for the first time in 2008.

In 2009 she initiated Touch World, to help not only the inmates but also their families.
